International Art Festival with live performances, seminars and art workshops at Magical Laterna Magica

An art festival that explores the notion of belonging and experiences of the hybridity that exists in having multiple cultural heritage. It investigates displacement and migration based on its overall factors such as imperialism, trade or labor migrations, marriages and how people and their memories 'bridge over' from culture, identities, structures and language.

The festival engages with a particular focus on the 'in betweenness' of movement as a state of being both physically and psychologically. Being in between produces critical knowledge and creates questions about homeland and the disassociation of participation in different societies.

The festival is a platform where artists living in multiple worlds engage, connect and bridge the different cultures and values of a multicultural society.

Stateless Mind explored diasporic connections and experiences of hybridity that exists in having multiple cultural heritages through South East Asian Artists and diaspora living in the Nordic Countries.

The event, which included performances, video screening and photography, also witnessed the launch of statelessmind.com - the web archive that collects materials submitted by a cross-disciplinary network of artists, curators, scholars and researchers whose work revolves around Southeast Asia diaspora, art, and culture. It also serves as a platform for generating new forms for collaboration and activities among different practitioners.

This art event took place on Copenhagen Culture Night at Laterna Magica, Museum for Visual Knowledge, located in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. It was also the grand opening of the museum.
