Tracing an evolving practice
The Archive documents the projects, exhibitions, festivals, residencies and publications that have shaped the development of Stateless Mind over time.
Rather than presenting a chronological record of completed events, the Archive reflects an ongoing practice in which each project continues to inform those that follow. Relationships, conversations and ideas often extend beyond a single exhibition or festival, becoming part of a longer process of artistic exchange.
Together, these chapters trace the evolution of Stateless Mind—from its beginnings as an artist-led festival to its continuing development as a platform for artistic practice rooted in time, place and relationships.
Stateless Mind Festivals (2019–2023)
The Stateless Mind Festivals marked the beginning of the platform's journey.
Held in Copenhagen and Venice between 2019 and 2023, the festivals brought together artists, curators, researchers and audiences through exhibitions, performances, workshops, conversations and public programmes. Each edition responded to its own place and participants while creating opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and artistic exchange.
Although the festivals concluded in 2023, the relationships, ideas and collaborations that emerged through them continue to shape Stateless Mind today.
Festival Chapters
Stateless Mind #1
Copenhagen, 2019
The inaugural Stateless Mind Festival introduced the platform through exhibitions, performances and public programmes that explored artistic exchange across cultures.
2021 — The Space Between
Copenhagen, Denmark
Developed during a period of global uncertainty, this edition reflected on distance, connection and the spaces that exist between people, places and lived experiences.
2022 — Bodies of Knowledge
Venice, Italy
In 2022, Stateless Mind extended into Venice, unfolding alongside the Venice Biennale as part of a satellite event with PORT Perak.
PORT Perak participated in the Biennale under the theme Pera, Flora and Fauna. Within this context, artists from the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia participated in the satellite event under Stateless Mind.
Operating outside national representation, Stateless Mind existed as an alternative presence — one that did not belong to a pavilion, yet moved in proximity to it.
Artists engaged in actions, conversations, and interventions that responded to the environment of the Biennale while remaining independent from its structures.
This moment became a turning point.

Continuing the Journey
The Stateless Mind Festivals laid the foundation for what the platform would become.
Today, that journey continues through the Stateless Mind Pavilion, Stateless House and PACAK, where artistic exchange develops through exhibitions, residencies, research and long-term collaborations rooted in time, place and relationships.
The Archive will continue to grow as new chapters are added, reflecting the ongoing evolution of Stateless Mind.
