Gudrita Lapė
BIO
Gudrita Lapė is born in Telsiai, Lithuania, grew up in Iceland and is now based in Spain and Iceland.
She works with identity, but big part of her inspiration comes from collective memory, femininity, ecology. She is inspired by the spiritual world, symbolism and rituals. The indescribable beauty of passed-on rituals led her to performance and body art and the objects from these ceremonies brought her to creating tactile works using mainly her own textile and up-cycling techniques.
Gudrita Lape is inspired by her temporal lobe epilepsy and the lack of general understanding of the different and even invisible seizures people with epilepsy can have and works them into her works to make them visible.

Performance Title
Smoothering
The performance is questioning the properties of smooth communication with the body
carrying the multilingual brain and all its byproducts. The audience is invited to take part in the interactive food performance and explore the palette including shock, silliness and doubt. The symptoms can even seem similar to a lost immigrant trying to get around a still unfamiliar city.
